 About FRS Radios

The Family Radio Service (FRS) is one of the Citizens Band services authorized by the Federal Communications Commission.  It is for your family, friends and associates to communicate among yourselves within your neighborhood and while on group outings.  You cannot make a telephone call with a FRS unit.  Expect a range of LESS THAN ONE MILE.

FRS radios are extremely limited, available only 14 FRS channels, which must be shared on a "take turn" basis. 

Be aware that advertised ranges over ONE mile are beyond what we in the communications business have observed, and you should set your expectorations accordingly.
